The event is the main fund-rasing event of the year for the Rotary Club, and has been an eagerly awaited annual event for local and national mountain bike enthusiasts and casual riders alike for almost 20 years.

New for 2009 is the re-introduction of the popular Time Trials in the morning prior to the afternoon races, making the whole day both enjoyable and competitive for all ranges of competitors from the Family Group Race through to the Experts Category.

See the Rules and Timetables page for more details about the Time Trials - what they are and more importantly how they affect the day's prizes.

This year - 2009 - the event is being run in aid of Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Yorkshire Air AmbulanceIt may surprise you to know that the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity relies on the generosity of individuals and organisations to help save lives across Yorkshire.
In fact as a charity they only receive help through secondment of paramedics from the NHS.
To keep both of Yorkshire's ambulances in the air they need to raise £7200 per day - this is equivalent to £2.65 million per year.

In addition to the direct donation made by the Rotary Club of Ripon Rowels from the entry fees and sponsorship from the event, you can raise additional money by collecting optional personal sponsorship.
Although this is entirely voluntary, it would be extra money going directly to one of the most deserving services Yorkshire has to offer.
